Reiki,
an energy restoration system, was developed in Japan
over 100 years ago by Dr. Mikao Usui. Reiki
Practitioners have been trained to use soothing
touch to promote deep states of relaxation. Reiki
brings a sense of peace to the mind, body, and
spirit. |
|

|
|
| |
These
deep states of relaxation stimulate the
parasympathetic nervous system which brings the body
to rest after stressful situations. Rest is
necessary to counteract stress, one of the most
common causes of disease. While at rest the body is
able to restore tissues and nourish cells. The
parasympathetic response initiates the body’s
ability to heal itself. |

Reiki is an excellent compliment to medical
treatments. The gentle energy has been proven
effective with post-operative patients. It is
beneficial to those recovering from illness or
injury. It has been used in hospitals to assist
patients in the process of chemotherapy. |

Medical care should not be replaced with Reiki.
Some conditions require a physician’s treatment. It
is unethical for a Reiki practitioner to diagnose a
condition, prescribe medications, or perform any
medical treatment. Seeking a licensed health care
physician is recommended for any condition. |

Every
individual responds differently to Reiki energy. It
may provide the relief you are seeking or it may
not. Simply allowing the body to take control and
restore itself can be a powerful experience. Reiki
energy has been described as compassionate,
nurturing, and spiritual. |
